Mamas on Bedrest: Meeting the Unique Needs of Mamas on Bedrest

September 12th, 2013

Greetings Mamas and those who love and care for them.

I am always struck by how little the general public knows about high risk pregnancy and bed rest. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. I knew very little myself until I faced my own high risk pregnancy experience with my daughter. As we all know, having a high risk pregnancy requiring bed rest is not easy. It stretches your mind, strength and your will. You are forced to deal with feelings and emotions and health issues the likes of which you may have never experienced ever before. Yet, so many people want to simply dismiss bed rest as a time for mamas to kick back and relax. It’s only when someone becomes intimately involved with a woman on bed rest do they really understand the magnitude of what she is going through.

That is why not everyone should attempt to attend to women on bed rest. Mamas on Bedrest have some unique needs-both physically and emotionally. Caregivers need to be aware and well versed in these unique needs and be prepared to assist and support Mamas on Bedrest on their bed rest journeys.

In this video blog, I share what I think are some of the top issues facing women on bed rest, and how caregivers caring for women on bed rest may approach these issues in service to Mamas on Bedrest.
